Rifle: Santelli and Lamson Complete Prone Event

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia freshmen shooters Tommy Santelli and Andrew Lamson finished 17th and 20th, in the smallbore prone event, at the 2008 National Junior Olympic Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Santelli placed 17th after shooting a score of 588 in day one and 584 in day two to finish with a total score of 1172.
Lamson shot a score of 587 in day one of the competition followed by a score of 583 in day two action. The Colchester, Vt., native finished in 20th place with a total score of 1170.
The two rookies finished sixth and 11th, respectively, in the air rifle event, held earlier this week.
Santelli and Lamson are the second and third Mountaineers to compete at the Junior Olympics this season. Fellow freshman Brandi Eskew placed third in the air rifle competition and fourth place in the smallbore competition on April 9.
Santelli was named to the National Rifle Association All-America second team, while Lamson earned honorable mention honors after the West Virginia rifle team took sixth at the 2008 NCAA Championships on March 18.
