Football: Strength/Video Staff Completed

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong has announced the staff for the strength and conditioning program has been completed and that a video coordinator for football has been hired.
“I am extremely pleased with the additions to our strength and conditioning staff and with our video coordinator,” Head Football Coach Bill Stewart said. “All of these people are fine individuals and bring a lot of experience and knowledge in their areas to our staff. I look forward to working with them.”
Director of Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike Joseph has added Shawn Gaunt as the Director of Speed/Skill Development, Beth Byron and Paul Chandler as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches and Corey Twine as an Assistant Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning. Brett Kelley was named the video coordinator for football.
“I think the addition of the coaches to our staff is very dramatic to the training of our student-athletes,” Joseph said. “Each coach brings a great enthusiasm and work ethic to maximize the potential of our teams and athletic program. All the coaches are very good at what they do and will enable us to reach a new level with our strength and conditioning program.”

Beth Byron – Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Assistant strength and conditioning coach at USF since 2006 … wrote and implemented training programs for seven sports … served as the graduate student intern in strength and conditioning at Minnesota (spring 2006) … worked with men’s and women’s sports … graduate assistant in strength and conditioning at Wisconsin-La Crosse (2004-05) … designed and implemented programs, administered testing and oversaw all aspects of program for women’s basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and men’s and women’s swimming and diving … earned bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. … completed master’s degree in exercise and sports science – human performance with a concentration in strength and conditioning from Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2006.
Paul Chandler – Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Strength and conditioning assistant coach at Florida from January 2006 and as an intern there from August 2005 … assisted in the design, organization and execution of strength and conditioning programs for football, women’s throwers and men’s/women’s swimming … managed and organized student-athletes data …organized and administer weight room scheduling, purchasing and maintenance … assisted in the planning of the strength and conditioning all sports clinics and camps … assisted in the mentoring of strength and conditioning interns … graduate assistant football and strength coach (January 2005 – July 2006) … assisted with defensive line … led strength and conditioning workouts and pool workouts … bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Harding University, 2003 … master’s degree in education with emphasis on kinesiology from Harding, 2005.
Corey Twine – Assistant Coordinator for Strength and Conditioning
Astronaut strength and conditioning coach at Wyle Laboratories, Inc. Morgantown native who was the video coordinator and account executive for the Nashville Kats Arena football team from October 2004 – December 2007 … responsible for setup and filming of home games and practices, handling video breakdown and cuts of game and practice footage and overseeing video exchange … fill coach and team requests for specific video cut-ups … generated season ticket and group ticket sales accounts … took part in grassroots telemarketing campaign … worked for the Tennessee Titans as the video operations assistant from March 2005 until December 2007 … filmed training camp, mini-camps and assisted in total operations of video department … operated the still-printers on the field for the coaches and players on the field .. recorded and maintain official’s copies during the games … marketing and promotions intern with the Nashville Sounds during the 2004 baseball season … earned bachelor’s degree in general business with concentration in sport management from Fairmont State in 2004.
