Track: Carrier Highlights Day One at ECACs

BOSTON, Mass. – True freshman Chelsea Carrier ran a 8.54-second time in the 60-meter hurdles semifinals to highlight the West Virginia University track & field team’s day one action at the 2008 ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.
Carrier’s time ranked third in the semifinals after the Buckhannon, W.Va. native already had posted the top preliminary time (8.60) of the 22 competitors this afternoon. Sunday's favorite in the finals is Pittsburgh’s Mycaiah Clemons, who ran the top time in the semifinals at 8.50.
WVU’s Katelyn Williams took 10th in the high jump, clearing 1.70 meters, while Natasha Redman tied for 11th at 1.65m. Senior Alexis Noel placed 16th in the long jump with a leap of 5.31m.
Day two’s competition starts at 11 a.m., with the pole vault, while the running events open with the distance medley relay at 1 p.m.
Syracuse leads the event with 29 points through the first day. The Mountaineers did not score any points on the first day of action.
