MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team heads to Brown University for a doubleheader against Brown and Providence on Sunday, March 9.
The Mountaineers (5-3, 0-1 BIG EAST) will play against Brown at 10 a.m., followed by a match against the Friars at 4 p.m.
WVU is coming off a 1-1 week in which it lost to Penn State, 7-0, but rebounded by defeating a short-handed Columbia squad, 7-0.
No. 1 singles and doubles performer Stacey Percival enjoyed a 2-0 performance against Columbia and will look to regain her form this weekend. She will be joined at doubles by Natalia Prinz, who has had a solid season thus far at No. 3 singles.
Colleen Speaker will try to provide a spark at No. 4 singles, where she has performed well this season after missing last year where she earned a medical redshirt.
Monica Lyskawa is also coming off a 2-0 weekend and has picked up where she left off last season. The Brampton, Ontario, native brings consistency to the lineup and has emerged as the team’s most effective singles player.
Brown (6-4) is coming off a 6-1 win over UMass, while the Friars (5-2) recently swept Lasalle, 7-0. WVU’s match against Providence will be its second BIG EAST contest of the season.
