Track: WVU Opens Outdoor Season at Raleigh Relays

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track & field team opens its outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays on March 28-29, at the Paul Derr Track & Field Stadium on the NC State campus in Raleigh, N.C.
The Mountaineers are one of seven BIG EAST track and field teams that will be in attendance.
Field events will get underway at 10 a.m., on Friday with the women’s shotput, while the track events will start with the 5,000 meters at 11 a.m.
WVU closed its indoor season with a 29th-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Redshirt freshman Marie-Louise Asselin took seventh place with a time of 9:14.44 in the 3,000-meter run and the distance medley relay squad took fourth place with a time of 11:07.64, breaking a school record.
Asselin and the rest of the distance medley relay squad featuring April Rotilio, Karly Hamric and Keri Bland were named to the All-America team.
