Gymnastics: Bieski Named EAGL Gymnast of Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University gymnast Amy Bieski has been named the EAGL Gymnast of the Week after her all-around performance in WVU’s final regular-season meet against Ohio State on March 22.
The Nanticoke, Pa., native put together a solid all-around effort and won with a score of 38.975 points against the Buckeyes. She also tied for fourth on vault (9.825) and on beam (9.70). Bieski currently ranks third in the league on floor (9.87 RQS) and has competed in all 12 meets this season, nine times as an all-arounder.
This is Bieski’s sixth weekly honor of the season as the freshman has earned the Rookie of the Week honor five times.
Pitt’s Anya Chayka was named EAGL Specialist of the Week, while George Washington’s Leslie Delima earned Rookie of the Week honors.
West Virginia returns to action at the 2008 EAGL Championships on Saturday, March 29, at the WVU Coliseum at 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth and senior citizens. Admission is free for EAGL students with a valid student ID.
