MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team will battle Ohio State on Senior Night Saturday, March 22, at the WVU Coliseum at 7 p.m.
Five WVU seniors will be recognized: Jaime Gold (5-2, Gahanna, Ohio), Rachel Hardin (5-2, Canal Winchester, Ohio), Katie McGregor (5-2, New Kensington, Pa.), Margaret Ann Moore (5-4, Moseley, Va.,) and Kara Weaver (5-3, Ravenswood, W.Va.).
The meet is also a dollar night, meaning all tickets and select concessions will be $1 each.
WVU (16-7, 9-0 EAGL) enters Saturday’s dual meet defeating 11 straight opponents since falling to LSU and Auburn in Baton Rouge, La., on Feb. 8. The Mountaineers currently have an regional qualifying score (RQS) of 194.585. WVU’s meet average score is 193.639.
Last week, the Mountaineers won a quad-meet at home, scoring 196.175 points, the most since the 2004 EAGL Championships. Freshman Amy Bieski won the all-around with a career-high 39.275 points and earned EAGL Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth time this season. The three wins brought Head Coach Linda Burdette just 10 career wins shy of 600.
Ohio State has an RQS of 194.220 and averages 194.047 points per competition. OSU leads the all-time series between the two schools, 10-13. The Buckeyes won last season’s meeting, 195.825-194.325, in Columbus, Ohio.
This is final regular season meet at the WVU Coliseum for the Mountaineers, but West Virginia will also play host to the 2008 EAGL Championships on March 29, at 4 p.m.
