Kuhn Picks Up Fourth Honor Of The Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Senior shortstop Tyler Kuhn has been named the College Baseball Insider Northeast Regional Player of the week for his efforts this past week.
This award marks the fourth of the week for Kuhn. On March 18, Kuhn was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week followed by being named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Hitter of the Week, as well as a member of the College Baseball Foundation’s National All-Star Lineup on March 19.
Kuhn led the Mountaineers to an 8-1 week with a 16-for-31 (.561) performance at the plate, with 18 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He hit five home runs, three doubles and a pair of triples to finish the week with a 1.1226 slugging percentage.
The Louisville, Ky., native finished with three hits, blasted a career-high two home runs and drove in a career-high seven runs, to lead WVU to a 21-3 win over St. Bonaventure on March 12. Kuhn then finished with four RBIs in game one of a doubleheader against Iona, 7-2, in a seven-inning game and 12-2 in a nine-inning contest on March 15. He finished the doubleheader with four hits, four runs, one home run and a triple.
Kuhn finished the eight-game week with three hits in game four against Iona, matching his career-high with two home runs and driving in five runs to lead West Virginia to a 17-1 victory.
Next up, the Mountaineers open the 2008 BIG EAST slate on Thursday, March 20, for a three-day series against Pitt. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
