MORGANTOWN, W.VA. - Sunday was the voting deadline for Big East Conference coaches to submit their annual awards ballot. The coaches are NOT allowed to vote for players on their team.
Hopefully, the coaches will fare better in their post-season voting than they did in the preseason when they voted fifth-place WVU to finish 10th or third-place Notre Dame to finish ninth, but that’s another story for another day.
Imposing the same rules on myself as used on coaches I will not select any West Virginia players. Here is my 2008 all-Big East team and major award winners:

Once again no votes for West Virginia players but if I could pick, forward Joe Alexander would be a lock on the first team. Darris Nichols should also receive the sportsmanship award. He’s had a wonderfully successful college career and has always acted like a complete gentleman on and off the court.
We’ll talk to you from New York on Tuesday night from the Big East banquet when the major award winners are announced.
Enjoy the tournament.
