MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer player Deana Everrett has been named to the Scholar All-East Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She is one of seven forwards honored amid the 33-player All-East Region teams.
As a senior, Everrett led the 2008 Mountaineers in assists (8), points (22), shots (87) and shots on-goal (38). An Oakville, Ontario, native, Everrett took home All-BIG EAST Second Team accolades and was named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team selection.
A psychology major, Everrett is the 11th different Mountaineer in the program’s 13-year history to earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors. She is both a BIG EAST Academic All-Star and Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll member.
One of the finest offensive players in school history, Everrett departs WVU ranked in the top five in several categories. Her 39 goals rank third all-time, her 24 assists are good for fourth all-time, and her 102 points are third-most all-time. Everrett was named All-BIG EAST in three of her four seasons for the Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers closed out the 2008 season with a 14-3-6 record, tying the school record for fewest losses in a season. West Virginia finished the season with a final ranking of 14th by the NSCAA and won its third-straight BIG EAST American Division title. Head Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown guided her team to a ninth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, the country’s ninth-best active streak.
