MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Jason Bristol of the West Virginia University men’s soccer team garnered adidas/National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention, announced today. To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative-grade point average throughout his career and start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team.
The Franklin, Tenn., native started 18 of the team’s 19 games and logged more than 1,700 minutes this season.
Bristol, who is majoring in business management, was a dominant force on the Mountaineers’ stingy defense. The back line allowed only 0.68 goals per game, while holding opponents to less than 11 shots per contest.
The Mountaineers finished the season ranked No. 12 nationally in goals against average (0.64 per contest) and No. 41 in shutout percentage (0.42 per game) out of 204 ranked teams.
