Volleyball: Mountaineers End 2008 Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team fell to Syracuse this afternoon in its last match of the 2008 season.
The Orange (17-14, 8-6 BIG EAST) swept the Mountaineers (7-21, 0-14) in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-13) match.
Leading WVU was junior Abby Raines who posted eight kills on the day, while sophomore Abby Norman followed with seven kills and two solo blocks. Sophomore Bonnie West led in digs with 17. She also posted two service aces, giving her 34 total on the season.
Freshman outside hitter Michelle Kopecky also had a good day with a career-high 13 digs, five kills and one service ace.
Red-shirt sophomore setter Nicole Jones posted 13 assists and four digs, while freshman setter Kari Post gathered 12 assists and nine digs.
As a team the Mountaineers posted 28 kills, 28 assists, 55 digs and six total team blocks.
