Cross Country: WVU No. 2 In Mid-Atlantic Region

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team has been ranked No. 2 in the Division I Women’s Cross Country Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, released today by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations (USTFCCA).
The Mountaineers rank second behind No. 1 Princeton and ahead of No. 3 Georgetown, No. 4 Villanova and No. 5 Penn State. The Mid-Atlantic Region is one of nine divisions nationwide, with 15 teams ranked in each region. This is the third consecutive week that WVU has been ranked in the second slot.
WVU currently ranks No. 9 in the national poll by the USTFCCA and is off to a fast start this season, finishing fourth at the Old Nassau Run, hosted by Princeton, on Sept. 13, and finishing first at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh on Oct. 3.
Next up, the team will race in the Penn State National Invitational in University Park, Pa. The race is set to begin at 10 a.m.
