MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving team will continue its preseason with the annual intrasquad Blue/Gold Meet on Oct. 4 at the WVU Natatorium at 9 a.m.
“It’s a good opportunity for the team to have fun, get together and swim some events,” Head Coach Vic Riggs says. “Obviously from a coaching standpoint it’s an opportunity to see our young talent and overall it will be a fun weekend with our swimming and diving celebration going on. It will be fun with all of the parents and alumni.”
The WVU Swimming & Diving Celebration will kickoff its weekend today, at 5 p.m., with an alumni reunion in the club level of the WVU Coliseum that will feature appetizers and refreshments sponsored by the Mountaineer Athletic Club.
The keynote speaker will be Olympian Kaitlin Sandeno, who participated in the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics in the freestyle, butterfly and IM events.
The team will open the regular season on Oct. 11 at Marshall along with East Carolina and Xavier. That meet begins at noon.
