Volleyball: WVU Set For Two-Match Road Trip

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face BIG EAST rival Pitt in a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Fitzgerald Field House and Duquesne in a 2 p.m. match on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the A. J. Palumbo Center.
The Mountaineers (6-12, 0-6 BIG EAST) fell to Notre Dame (0-3) and DePaul (0-3) last weekend. Leading the Mountaineers this season is freshman Kylie Armbruster who has 180 kills, 181 digs and 16 service aces. Sophomore libero Bonnie West is in fifth place in the BIG EAST with 286 digs on the season, while also leading the Mountaineers with 23 service aces.
The Panthers (13-8, 5-1 BIG EAST) currently hold the top spot in the conference after defeating Youngstown State (3-1). Outside hitter Kelly Campbell led the Panthers with a season-high 26 kills in the win. She was also named BIG EAST Player of the Week for her efforts last weekend as she posted a 22 kills and 10 digs in the 3-1 win over Notre Dame.
Duquesne is 14-7, 3-3 in the Atlantic 10 West division after falling to Rhode Island (1-3) last weekend. Junior outside hitter Jessica Artman leads the Dukes with 231 kills on the season, including 14 in the loss to Rhode Island.
On Sunday, Duquesne will host a "Dig for the Cure" match. Anyone attending is invited to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.
