Volleyball: WVU Prepares for BIG EAST Road Trip

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team looks for its first BIG EAST win of the season with a 2 p.m. match at Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 11, and a 2 p.m. match at DePaul on Sunday, Oct. 12.
The Mountaineers improved their record to 6-10, 0-4 BIG EAST after defeating Robert Morris at the WVU Coliseum on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Freshman outside hitter Kylie Armbruster led the Mountaineers as she posted her fifth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Bonnie West added 21 digs and a season-high four service aces.
Notre Dame is 8-8, 3-1 BIG EAST, after suffering its first conference loss of the season to Cincinnati last weekend. Junior Christina Kaelin led the Irish with a match-high 17 kills, while freshman Kristen Dealy added 11 kills and eight digs. The Irish are currently in a four-way tie for the top spot in the conference with St. John’s, Georgetown, and Pittsburgh.
DePaul holds a 1-15, 0-4 record after suffering back- to-back losses against Cincinnati and Louisville this past weekend. In the loss to the Cardinals, junior Sarah Cullen led the Blue Demons with 15 kills. Cullen currently ranks third in the BIG EAST in kills with 231.
