Gymnastics: Morris, Bieski Honored by EAGL

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University gymnasts Mehgan Morris and Amy Bieski have been recognized by the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) for their performances last weekend at the Cancun Classic in Cancun, Mexico.
Morris a junior from Belle, W.Va., was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week after posting 38.775 points to place third in the all-around. Morris took second on bars with a 9.75 score, while also scoring a 9.825 on floor in her competition as an all-arounder since 2006.
Bieski, a freshman from Nanticoke, Pa., earned EAGL Rookie of the Week honors in her collegiate debut at the Cancun Classic. Bieski totaled 38.95 points in the all-around, including notching a 9.8 on vault and a 9.875 on floor, the meet’s second-best score. Bieski’s all-around score took second in the individual results.
New Hampshire sophomore Taryn LaFountain was named EAGL Specialist of the Week.
West Virginia (1-2) returns to action at No. 9 Michigan with No. 14 Arkansas on Jan. 11, in Ann Arbor, Mich., at 7:30 p.m.
