MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Defender Morgan Betscher has joined the West Virginia University women’s soccer team announced Head Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown today. Betscher, who graduated high school early, is in her first semester on campus with the Mountaineers.
“We are thrilled to have Morgan come early and be a part of the West Virginia family,” says Head Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “She is a hard-working and versatile player with a great attitude. Morgan knows what she wants to achieve athletically and academically. Her collegiate career is off to a great start.”
A native of Decatur, Ill., Betscher was a three-time all-state performer at MacArthur High School. Named team captain for three years, Betscher recorded 89 goals and 27 assists in her career. The three-time Team MVP was named the Herald Review Player of the Year in 2007.
Betscher was a member of the St. Louis Soccer Club’s 2005 national championship team. Her club team also reached the regional finals in 2004, 2006 and 2007. Betscher was on ODP state teams from 2001-07 and regional teams from 2003-05.
Betscher joins current Mountaineer Stephanie Burgess as the only players in program history to enroll early.
