Swimming: Mountaineers Fall to Notre Dame

WOMENS RESULTS
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams fell to BIG EAST foe Notre Dame today at the Rolfs Aquatic Center, in South Bend, Ind.
The Fighting Irish defeated the Mountaineers 214-150 on the men’s side and 249-116 on the women’s.
Leading the Mountaineers on the men’s side was junior Michael Walker and senior Nick Delic. Walker took first place in the 400 IM (3.58.39), the 100 Back (51.47), the 200 Back (1:50.82) and in the 200 IM (1:53.30). Delic posted wins in the 100 Butterfly (48.74), the 100 Free (45.70) and in the 50 Free (20.84).
Senior Kevin Donohue also had a good showing with a win in the 200 Breast (2:02.52), while also setting a pool record in the 100 Breast with a time of 54.66.
In the relay events, both the WVU men’s 200 Medley Relay and 400 Medley Relay teams took first place with times of 1:31.29 and 3:22.25.
On the women’s side, junior Lindsey Largo led the Mountaineers with wins in the 400 IM (4:28.32) and in the 1650 Free (16:49.80). Sophomore Kayla Andrews finished second in the 100 Free (50.73) and in the 50 Free (23.88), while junior Isabel Perez posted second place finishes in the 200 Breast (2:22.50) and in the 200 IM (2:08.21).
The women’s relay teams also swam well with a first place finish in the 400 Free (3:30.16) and second place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay (1:45.48) and the 200 Free Relay (1:36.94).
The Mountaineers will have a month of rest to prepare for the BIG EAST Championships on February 20, in Long Island, N.Y.
