Track: WVU Returns to Action at Penn State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track & field team returns to action at the Penn State Invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26, at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in University Park, Pa. The meet will get underway Friday with the pentathlon at noon.
This marks the ninth year of the competition that will feature over 1000 athletes from nearly 50 different schools including nationally-ranked teams such as Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Villanova.
West Virginia competed at Penn State in its last competition on Jan. 12. The afternoon was highlighted by the 4x1-mile relay team’s victory. The squad featured junior Karly Hamric, sophomore Clara Grandt, freshman Ahna Lewis and sophomore Keri Bland. WVU’s relay crossed the line in 20:20.38 to set an indoor school record.
The Mountaineers also had many other notable performances that day. Natasha Redman placed third in the high jump at 5-foot-7, while Brittany Hohn took seventh in the 55-meter dash. Also, true freshman Chelsea Carrier took third in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.09.
