Rifle: WVU Blanks Akron For Fifth Win

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team defeated Akron 4591-4517 yesterday at the Zips home range in Akron, Ohio. The win lifts the Mountaineers to a 5-3 record.

Senior Lafe Kunkel led the Mountaineers in smallbore with a score of 580 while Kunkel and freshman shooter Brandi Eskew topped the field after hitting a score of 578 in air rifle. WVU took both events totaling 2295 point in smallbore and 2296 in air rifle, respectively.

Next up, the Mountaineers will take on Memphis at Murray State on Saturday, Jan. 26.
