MEET NOTES
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team will face EAGL rival Maryland in a dual meet at the Comcast Center on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m., in College Park, Md.
“We have had a good week of practice and I’m looking for us to transfer that into competition,” Head Coach Linda Burdette says. “It will be our first conference meet and we are anxious to get out there and compete.”
West Virginia (1-4) leads the all-time series between the two schools 25-12-1 in what will be the conference opener for each squad.
WVU has placed third in both of its meets this season. The Mountaineers’ last meet was at No. 9 Michigan with No. 14 Arkansas on Jan. 11. WVU tallied just 190.3 points as the Wolverines won the meet, topping Arkansas, 196.075-195.25.
Maryland (0-1) dropped its season opener to Ohio State, 193.850-190.800. The Terps competed against WVU at three different meets in 2007, losing both in the regular season and finishing behind WVU at the conference championship in eighth.
West Virginia is 201-56-3 (.778) all-time against EAGL opponents after going 17-2 in the league a year ago.
