Swimming: Mountaineers Close Out Home Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to play host to BIG EAST rival Pitt on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the WVU Natatorium for their last home meet of the season. Meet time is set for 11 a.m.
Last season the Mountaineers spilt with the Panthers as the men’s team won 159-141, and the women fell 169-131. So far this season the Mountaineers are 6-6, 2-1 on the men’s side and 8-5, 2-1 on the women’s.
In their last meet, the Mountaineers showed potential at the Georgia Invitational as they finished in a combined fifth place against powerhouse’s Georgia, Florida, Northwestern, Harvard and Virginia, on Nov. 30- Dec. 2.
Saturday’s meet will also be senior day for the Mountaineers as seniors Samuel Bird, Felipe Cunha, Nick Delic, Kevin Donohue, Elyse Fisher, Tina Gabrilo, Erica Pfeiffer and Erin Tudor will participate in their last home meet as Mountaineers.
After the completion of the Pitt meet, the Mountaineers will close out the regular season as they travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame on Jan. 25–26, at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.
