Volleyball: Mountaineers defeat Indiana State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Volleyball team defeated Indiana State in their first of three games at the WVU Classic this evening in front of a home crowd.
The Mountaineers now 6-1 on the season swept the Sycamores 3-0 (30-27, 30-16, 30-12).
Senior outside hitter Abby Tevis led the Mountaineers in kills with 12 while sophomore outside hitter Kristina Gallahan added nine. Also stepping up was freshman outside hitter Abby Norman. Norman led the Mountaineers in blocks with two and added five kills to the team’s total of 44.
The Mountaineers will face Butler (3-5) tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. for day two of the WVU classic. Butler defeated East Tennessee State (5-2) earlier in the day 3-0 (30-19, 32-30, 30-25).
Indiana State (2-4) returns to action tomorrow at noon against Butler (3-5) in the first game of the day at the WVU coliseum.
