Volleyball: Mountaineers Sweep WNY Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team won its fifth straight match by defeating Canisius this evening to go 3-0 in the Western New York Invitational this weekend.
The Mountaineers (5-1) won the match 3-2 (30-28, 27-30, 30-23, 25-30, 15-9).
Leading the Mountaineers in kills was senior outside hitter Abby Tevis with a season high 26, while senior setter Kailee Goold led the team in assists (50) and digs (18).
The Mountaineers posted 13 more kills than Canisius (1-6) to win the match.
This weekend moved the Mountaineers record up to 5-1, two games better than last year’s total record. Next on the list for the Mountaineers is Indiana State (1-3). The Sycamores travel to Morgantown on Friday to compete in the WVU Classic. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
