Football: Dingle Earns Big East Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia’s Johnny Dingle was named Big East Conference defensive player of the week, the league announced Monday.
Dingle, a senior defensive end from Miami, Fla., recovered a fumble on Maryland’s first offensive which directly led to West Virginia’s first touchdown. He finished the evening with six tackles, a sack and 2 ½ tackles for loss in West Virginia’s 31-14 win against the Terps.
The league also announced that Cincinnati’s Dustin Grutza was its offensive player of the week while Connecticut kicker Tony Ciaravino was its special teams player of the week.
West Virginia (3-0) faces East Carolina (1-2) on Saturday at Milan Puskar Stadium in a noon game that will be televised on ESPN2.
