Cross Country: Dalzot Places Eighth

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia sophomore cross country runner Maria Dalzot placed eighth out of 53 runners with a time of 21:48 at the World Mountain Running tournament in Ovronnaz, Switzerland, this weekend.
Australia’s Lara Tamsett won the race with a time of 20:48. Dalzot’s teammate, Anna Lieb, was the highest U.S. finisher in fourth (21:23). The race featured runners from 22 countries with the top two junior runners from each team counting in competition.
The field of 17 full teams was led by Australia with 4 points. The U.S. junior team followed with 12 points to earn a silver medal.
The women's senior team repeated with a gold medal performance. It marked the first time in the history of the U.S. mountain running team that the squad earned two team medals.
