Women’s Soccer: Two Named W-League All-Conference

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer players Ashley Banks and Krystle Kallman were named to the USL W-League All-Conference selections yesterday. The All-Conference teams were voted on by team coaches and general managers, honoring 33 of the league’s top players for their play in the 2007 season.
Banks was one of four midfielders in the Eastern Conference to earn recognition while playing for the Northern Virginia Majestics. Kallman earned conference honors as one of three defenders in the Central Conference while playing with this Minnesota Lightning.
The W-League is the USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the U.S. and Canada. The 2007 campaign featured a 35-team format in four conferences playing 12 regular season matches through July. The top women’s players throughout the world compete in the USL W-League through the summer months.
West Virginia begins preseason workouts on August 13, with their home opener scheduled for August 31, against Bowling Green at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
