Women's Soccer: Preseason Rankings Released

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team received a pair of preseason rankings on Tuesday, holding the No. 18 spot from Soccer Buzz and No. 21 position from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas.
The Mountaineers, preseason favorites to win the 2007 BIG EAST American Division title, have been ranked in at least one major poll for 53 of the last 55 polling weeks. West Virginia finished No. 23 in the final 2006 Soccer Buzz rankings and No. 22 in the NSCAA season-ending poll.
Seven WVU opponents are ranked in at least one of the two polls (Soccer Buzz/NSCAA): Texas A&M (No. 5/5), Connecticut (No. 10/16), Virginia (No. 11/17), Penn State (No. 12/7), Villanova (No. 20/-), Wake Forest (-/No. 22) and Marquette (No. 30/-).
WVU will also have a pair of exhibition games at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, both open and free to the public. West Virginia and Kentucky will square off on Saturday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. A week later, the Mountaineers will battle James Madison on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m., in their final exhibition outing.
