“I’m looking forward to a great preseason camp,” says head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “The ladies worked hard in the spring and we hope to carry that momentum into these workouts.”
The Mountaineers, preseason favorites to win the BIG EAST American Division title, begin camp with on-field training twice a day, strength and conditioning workouts, and film sessions. West Virginia will continue its preparation leading up to the home opener against Bowling Green on Friday, Aug. 31.
WVU will also have a pair of exhibition games at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, both open and free to the public. West Virginia and Kentucky will square off on Saturday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m.
“We are excited to face such a tough opponent in Kentucky and it will be a solid test to see where we stand against the SEC tournament champions,” says Izzo-Brown.
A week later, the Mountaineers will battle James Madison on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m., in their final exhibition outing.
The Mountaineers return nine starters as they look to repeat as BIG EAST American Division champions. Izzo-Brown begins her 12th season as head coach of the Mountaineers and has led her teams to seven straight NCAA tournament appearances.
