Senior Ashley Banks and junior Greer Barnes both made the latest team of the week honor. Banks recorded three goals and an assist for the Northern Virginia Majestics. Barnes tallied an assist and anchored a stiff defense for the Boston Renegades.
Freshman Kerri Butler, one of eight total Mountaineers participating on various USL W-League teams across the country this summer, earned team of the week honors last week.
The W-League is the USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the U.S. and Canada. The 2007 campaign features a 35-team format in four conferences playing 12 or 14 regular season matches that run through July. The top women’s players throughout the world compete in the USL W-League through the summer months.
West Virginia begins preseason workouts on August 13, with its home opener scheduled for August 31, against Bowling Green at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
