Butler is one of eight Mountaineers participating on various USL W-League teams across the country this summer. The Fredericksburg, Va., native tallied seven saves in a 1-0 shutout for the Northern Virginia Majestics last week.
The W-League is the USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the U.S. and Canada. The 2007 campaign features a 35-team format in four conferences playing 12 or 14 regular season matches that run through July. The top women’s players throughout the world compete in the USL W-League through the summer months.
Other Mountaineers competing in the W-League are senior Ashley Banks, juniors Greer Barnes, Lisa DuCote, Krystle Kallman, Michelle Molinari, sophomore Mallory Beck and freshman Erica Henderson.
West Virginia begins preseason workouts on August 13, with its home opener scheduled for August 31, against Bowling Green at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
