MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Former West Virginia University baseball player Justin Jenkins has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association’s (ABCA) all-East Region second team.
The senior leftfielder finished the 2007 season with a .372 average, 21 doubles, 11 home runs and 47 RBI to earn his second consecutive all-BIG EAST first team selection.
Previously, Jenkins was tabbed to Collegiate Baseball’s All-America third team, NCBWA’s All-America third team and the inaugural All Ping! team as selected by pingbaseball.com.
Jenkins was a first team ABCA all-East Region selection in 2006 as a junior. All-time, WVU has had 21 ABCA first team selections, while Jenkins becomes the 14th second team honoree. Six WVU first team all-region selections have gone on to be named ABCA All-Americans, most recently leftfielder Joe McNamee (third team) in 1998.
Jenkins now plays with his former teammate Adam White on the Cleveland Indians’ A-league team, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
