MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Former West Virginia University baseball player Justin Jenkins has been named to the third team of the inaugural All Ping! team as selected by pingbaseball.com.
Jenkins was joined by fellow BIG EAST player Boomer Whiting of Louisville on the third team outfield. Previously, Jenkins was tabbed to Collegiate Baseball’s All-America third team and to the NCBWA All-America third team.
The senior leftfielder finished the 2007 season with a .372 average, 21 doubles, 11 home runs and 47 RBI to earn his second consecutive all-BIG EAST first team selection.
A Ridgeley, W.Va., native, Jenkins leaves West Virginia University as one of the best hitters in school history, holding eight records.
Jenkins signed a pre-draft free agent deal with the Cleveland Indians on May 23.
Rutgers’ Todd Frazier was the first team shortstop and Louisville pitcher Zack Pitts was the final BIG EAST player recognized as a part of the third team pitching staff.
