Track: Czaikowski Qualifies for Hurdles Final

AUSTIN, TEXAS – On the heels of Abbie Stechschulte’s fourth place finish in the heptathlon, senior Jessica Czaikowski qualified for the 100 meter hurdles on Friday, April 6, at the 80th Annual Texas Relays at the Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Czaikowski took third in the preliminaries with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 13.45. The Tottenham, Ontario, native, will run in the finals tomorrow evening.
“I’m very happy with her run today,” says coach Jeff Huntoon. “Today’s time shows promise for tomorrow’s final.”
Czaikowski also ran in the 100 meter dash, taking 17th with a qualifying time of 11.68.
The 4x100 relay squad also qualified for the conference championship, finishing today’s race at 47.21. Halimah Bashir, Czaikowski, April Rotilio and Brittany Hohn combined for the time.
Rotilio, making her first appearance this season, also raced in the 100 meter dash, clocking in at 12.62.
Freshman Kristen Loughry and senior Nancy Regalbuto also competed today. Loughry achieved a BIG EAST qualifier in the hurdles, stopping the clock at 14.84, while Regalbuto took 14th in the high jump with a BIG EAST leap of 1.65 meters.
The Relays will conclude tomorrow, April 7. WVU will participate in the distance medley relay, the 100 meter hurdles final and the 1,500 meter run.
