The Mountaineers dominated the 90-minute match against the Buckeyes, putting together several scoring opportunities in the first half. The offensive attack paid off in the 83rd minute with a goal from All-American Deana Everrett. Everett fired a ball near post after receiving a perfectly served through ball from Greer Barnes for the game’s only score.
“I am very proud of the effort our ladies gave today," said head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “It is nice to end the spring with a win, but most importantly the team improved over the past few months. This was a good way to conclude the spring as we look forward to an exciting fall.”
Saturday’s contest was the fifth and final competition weekend for the Mountaineers this spring. This fall will be the 12th season for Izzo-Brown leading the West Virginia program.
