Tennis: WVU Hosts Rutgers in Regular Season Finale

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s tennis team is set to host BIG EAST foe Rutgers in its last regular season match on Saturday, April 14, at the Ridgeview Racquet and Fitness Club. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
The Mountaineers (11-10, 5-1) are coming off an impressive 7-0 sweep of conference opponent Georgetown. Juniors Natalia Prinz and Stacey Percival had tremendous matches, defeating Stephanie Cohen in the No. 1 singles match (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Courtney Olsen in the No. 2 match (6-3, 6-1), respectively. Prinz and Percival also combined to pound Liz Winokur and Adrienn Gin in the No. 1 doubles match, 8-0.
Junior Monica Lyskawa continues to pace WVU, holding a 15-4 singles record. The Brampton, Ontario, native defeated GU’s Winokur in the No. 3 match on Tuesday, 6-1, 6-0.
Following Saturday’s match, the final home match for seniors Kelly Walsh and Ashley Constantine, the Mountaineers will wait to hear about their seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Seedings are expected to be announced on Monday, April 16, with play set to begin on Thursday, April 19, in Tampa, Fla.
