Baseball: WVU Ready for Louisville Trip

GAME NOTES
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team will travel to Louisville, Ky., to take on the Cardinals in a three-game series March 30-April 1, at Patterson Stadium.
WVU and Louisville will first meet at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 30. Game two will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, April 1.
The Mountaineers (15-5) enter this weekend’s competition after back-to-back sweeps of Seton Hall and Canisius. Senior Justin Jenkins and sophomore Adam White are both batting above .400 (.407 and .404, respectively). Jenkins has four home runs to date along with 22 RBIs. White has registered a team-high 36 hits with four doubles and one triple. Junior south paw Kenny Durst (3-1) is sporting a team-best 1.70 ERA after striking out 27 batters in 37.0 innings of work.
Louisville (16-8) went 2-1 against Villanova, March 24-25, to open BIG EAST play. The Cardinals won game one of a doubleheader, 11-2, but were blanked 1-0 by the Wildcats in game two. Louisville finished the series with a 10-3 showing on Sunday, March 25. Senior Isaiah Howes is batting .433 for the Cardinals this season. Junior right-hander Zach Pitts (4-1) has a 1.12 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 40.1 innings on the mound.
The all-time series between the Mountaineers and Cardinals is tied 2-2. West Virginia won two of three games against Louisville last season in Morgantown.
