Gymnastics: Cox Earns 4th EAGL Weekly Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University gymnast senior Janáe Cox was announced today the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) gymnast of the week for the fourth time this season.
The Otisco, Ind., native tied her season high all-around score of 39.325 in a quad meet against Rutgers, Temple and Yale last week at the WVU Coliseum. In addition to winning the all-around title, Cox scored 9.850s to win both balance beam and floor exercise. She also placed second on vault with a 9.80 score and third on uneven bars with a 9.825 score.
She was previously named EAGL gymnast of the week on Feb. 27, Jan. 30, and Jan. 16, this season and has won the award 11 times in her career.
Last week, Cox moved past Kristin Quackenbush (1994-97) on West Virginia’s all-time points list with 1,904.175 points and now just needs 30 points to eclipse Lajuanda Moody (1991-94) as the school’s all-time points leader.
George Washington junior McKenzie Parrack was named the EAGL specialist of the week and NC State freshman Taylor Seaman received the EAGL rookie of the week for the third week in a row.
West Virginia ranks 24th in the GymInfo national rankings this week and have three events ranked in the national top 25 as vault is 20th, bars is 23rd, and floor is 20th.
The Mountaineers (21-8, 11-1 EAGL) travel to face Minnesota in WVU’s final meet of the regular season on March 24, at 6 p.m., in Minneapolis, Minn.
