Despite a 2-1 loss in a 90-minute scrimmage, there were plenty of positives for the Mountaineers on the weekend.
“I was very pleased with how the team adjusted after half time and executed our plan," said head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “We played with a lot of intensity and gained a lot from playing such a strong Virginia team. This game allowed us to see some areas we need to adjust and the team will work hard to make it happen.”
Senior forward Kim Bonilla netted the only goal for West Virginia.
Spring competition resumes for West Virginia on April 14-15, when the Mountaineers host the annual Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational. WVU will entertain BIG EAST foe Pitt at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening. On Sunday, the team will host a 4-versus-4 tournament to raise funds for the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center.
