Men's Swimming: WVU Finishes 20th at NCAAs

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – West Virginia University’s men’s swimming and diving team crowned five honorable mention All-Americas and finished 20th overall on the final day of competition at the NCAA Championship on Saturday, Mar. 17, in Minneapolis, Minn.
WVU finished tied with Hawaii with 41 points. Auburn won the championship with 566 points.
The 400 free relay team had the best finish of the day for the team, taking 11th in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:56.91. Freshmen Zoltan Povazsai, sophomores Andrew Langenfeld and Antonio Cisneros, and junior Nick Delic combined for the win. For their top 16 finish, each student-athlete was named an honorable mention All-America.
Junior Pablo Marmolejo also earned honorable mention All-America honors, finishing 16th in the 200 fly with a time of 1:46.19.
Povazsai also had a strong night individually, finishing 34th in the 200 back with a personal best time of 1:46.32.
In the 100 free, Delic finished 52nd (44.85) and Langenfeld followed at 53rd (44.86).
Freshman Sean Mahoney took 21st in the 200 breast, clocking in at 1:58.71, while junior Kevin Donohue finished 27th at 2:01.36.
All told, four All-Americans and 10 honorable mention All-Americans were crowned at the Championship.
