Wrestling: WVU Set to Host Ohio

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University wrestling team closes out its non-conference dual meet schedule on Friday, Feb. 9, when it hosts Ohio at the WVU Coliseum at 8 p.m.
The Mountaineers (3-3) are coming off a thrilling 18-16 win on the road against then No. 25-ranked Pitt last Friday. WVU trailed 16-7, but received wins from Chance Litton (184), Jared Villers (197) and Dustin Rogers (HWT) to tally the upset. Brandon Rader (141) and David Jauregui (149) also recorded wins in the dual.
Rader and Villers continue to pound out wins for West Virginia as they have combined for a record of 34-6. Rader has posted 15-1 record to date with a six wins in his last six bouts, while VIllers is 19-5 on the season and 5-1 in his last six matches.
Ohio (15-6) enters Friday’s dual on a three-meet winning streak. After going 1-2 at the Wendy’s Big Classic Duals, the Bobcats have posted wins over Buffalo, Ashland and Virginia. Jake Frerichs and Jacob Ison have already posted 20-win seasons as they are 27-9 and 20-6, respectively.
Last season OU squeaked out an 18-16 win over the Mountaineers in Athens, Ohio. Rader, Villers and Kurt Brenner each recorded a win in the dual.
