MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s track and field team will compete in the Syklles-Babcock Cup in University Park, Pa., on Feb. 9-10. The meet, expected to last all day, both days, will be the last invitational for the squad before the BIG EAST Championship.
The Mountaineers had an excellent showing at the State Farm Shell Games on Feb. 3, qualifying 13 for BIG EAST and eight for the ECAC Regional Championship.
Fifth year senior Jessica Czaikowski led WVU at the Games, winning both the 60 meter hurdles (8.36) and the 60 meter dash (7.63). Both times qualified the Tottenham, Ontario, native for BIG EAST and ECAC. Additionally, Czaikowski’s hurdles finish is the 13th best in the nation and an NCAA provisional time.
WVU will next travel to Akron, Ohio, for the BIG EAST Championship on Feb. 17-18, at the Akron Athletics Field House. To date, 12 Mountaineers have qualified to compete.
