Men's Basketball: Butler Named Rookie of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University forward Da’Sean Butler was named Big East rookie of the week, the conference announced today.
Butler, a Newark, N.J., resident, returned home to the Garden State to help the Mountaineers (18-4, 7-3) to a pair of conference road wins at Rutgers and Seton Hall.
Last Thursday, Butler scored a then-season high 17 points to lead West Virginia to an 89-83 win over the Scarlet Knights. Three days later, Butler exceeded his season-high total with 21 points in an 81-70 victory at Seton Hall.
For the week, Butler shot 60.9 percent from the floor and boosted his season scoring average to 10 points per game.
WVU has a pair of key games coming up this week against Top 10 clubs. On Wednesday night the Mountaineers take on Pitt at 7 pm at the Coliseum before facing UCLA on Saturday in Morgantown at 1 pm.
