Tennis: WVU Set for Penn State, Syracuse

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s tennis team will travel to University Park, Pa., on Saturday, Feb. 17, for a noon match against Penn State. The Mountaineers will then battle with BIG EAST foe Syracuse the next day at 10 a.m.
WVU (3-3) is coming off a 6-1 home loss to 60th ranked Marshall and a 7-0 sweep of Youngstown State.
Junior Monica Lyskawa leads the Mountaineers, holding steady at the No. 3 spot with a 5-1 record. The Brampton, Ontario, native has scored the only team point for the squad the past two Sundays.
WVU looks to get its second victory against PSU in 24 years. The Nittany Lions lead the series, 20-1.
The Mountaineers secured their first victory against the Orange last year at the BIG EAST Championship, defeating sixth seed Syracuse, 4-2, in the first consolation round.
The team returns to the Ridgeview Racquet and Fitness Club on Tuesday, Feb. 20, for a noon match against UMBC.
