Gymnastics: No. 24 WVU Travels to NC State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 24 West Virginia University gymnastics team will compete in a five-team meet at NC State on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m., at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C.
Joining the Mountaineers and Wolfpack in competition will be No. 6 Nebraska, EAGL opponent George Washington and William & Mary.
West Virginia (10-5, 5-1 EAGL) currently owns an average score of 193.705 after competing in five meets this season. WVU also has two events ranked in the top 25 as vault (48.860 avg.) ranks 17th and floor is 20th (48.540 avg.).
The Mountaineers rank third in composite score average in the Southeast region behind Florida and Georgia. WVU has the highest team average in the EAGL and leads the league on both vault and floor.
Last weekend at New Hampshire, sophomore Mehgan Morris posted the highest score on the uneven bars by any Mountaineer this season with a 9.9. Junior Jaime Gold took second in the vault with a team-high 9.875 while Amie Bouchier put up her best beam score of the year with a 9.825, good for third place at the meet.
The Cornhuskers have a 195.625 average score, including a season-high score of 196.800, while host NC State has the 29th best average in the country at 193.246. George Washington ranks 42nd (191.060) and William & Mary is 65th (183.775) this week.
WVU trails the all-time series with Nebraska (1-7), but leads in the series with George Washington (28-1), NC State (19-9) and William & Mary (10-0).
