MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University wrestler Zac Fryling has been named the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) wrestler of the week for his performance this past weekend in a pair of dual meets.
The Lansdale, Pa., native grabbed two wins over quality opponents to boost his record to 8-3 in his last 11 matches. On Friday evening against Ohio, the Lansdale, Pa., native defeated 2006 MAC runner-up Jake Frerichs, 6-3. Fryling followed that up with a 2-1 win over Lock Haven’s Seth Martin, who ranks eighth nationally.
The 157-pounder is now 17-5 this season and 6-2 in dual meets. In EWL action, Fryling is a solid 3-1. He is the second WVU wrestler to earn the weekly EWL honor this year as Jared Villers was named the wrestler of the week on Feb. 5.
Fryling and the rest of the Mountaineers get back to the mat on Thursday, Feb. 15, when they host No. 10 Edinboro at 7:30 at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
