Tennis: WVU to Host Buckeyes

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University’s tennis team will host Ohio State on Friday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. at the Ridgeview Racquet and Fitness Club.
The Mountaineers (2-0) opened the season on Sunday with impressive 7-0 victories over Morehead State and Akron. Junior co-captain Natalia Prinz dominated at No. 1 singles, beating Heather Butt of MSU 7-6 (3), 6-3, and Tanya Gombera of Akron, 6-4, 7-6.
WVU will be trying for its first team victory over the Buckeyes. The two schools have met 11 times since 1991. The last match came in 2002 with OSU prevailing, 7-0.
Following Friday’s match, WVU will travel to College Park, Md., for a match against the University of Maryland. The two teams will meet on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at the university’s tennis center.
