MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - This year’s annual Blue and Gold meet was an encouraging experience for the Mountaineers! Both teams competed very well and are looking forward to a strong competition season. A good turnout of more than 100 spectators provided an adrenaline booster for the Mounties.
The Gold team was led by seniors Margaret Ann Moore and Rachel Hardin, while Katie McGregor, Kara Weaver, and Jaime Gold supported the Blue team. The seniors went into their last Blue/Gold meet with high spirits and expectations. The freshmen all did a great job handling the pressure situation.
The Blue team started off with five strong vaults, and the Gold team responded with four solid bar routines. The teams switched events and the Gold team hit four out of four vaults. The Blue team had an aggressive bar line-up.
The Blue team moved on to beam, leaving the Gold team to keep their vault power going on floor. The Blue team showed their elegance on beam and the Gold team accomplished many great things on floor. After switching events, the Blue team stepped it up on floor and the Gold team took their turn being graceful on beam.
The Blue team ended up winning in terms of hit routines and stuck dismounts. Many goals were accomplished in the competition and the Mountaineers are excited and ready to begin the competition season!
Way to go Mountaineers!
