Men's Basketball: WVU Ranked in Both Polls

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia is now in both college basketball polls. Coach Bob Huggins’ Mountaineers are 23rd in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Top 25 polls released earlier this week.
West Virginia (10-1) has won eight straight games after a two-point loss to No. 11 Tennessee on Nov. 23 in Newark, N.J. Most recently, the Mountaineers downed Canisius 77-54 in Buffalo on Dec. 22.
The Mountaineers first cracked the AP poll two weeks ago at No. 24. This week is the first time West Virginia has been ranked by the coaches since Feb. 19, 2007. West Virginia was ranked four times last year and 22 weeks total since Jan. 3, 2005.
WVU plays host to 9-3 Oklahoma at the Charleston Civic Center on Saturday evening in an game that will be televised by ESPN2 and will tip off at 6 p.m. The Sooners have won two straight including a pair of impressive victories over Arkansas and No. 20 Gonzaga. Oklahoma’s three losses this year have come against Memphis, USC and Stephen F. Austin.
The game was previously announced as a sell out.
